Gigino Pestifero’s Hot Summer is a children’s novel from 1967. In the 1960s, Guareschi was commissioned to write an advertising book for Tanara ice-cream, using Paul Campari’s characters from Carosello. Gigino is one of the funniest ruffians, the leader of the gang, bubbly and full of initiative, who does a thousand things to get his friends to be undisciplined “pests”..
This red room has a very comfortable red Frau king-size round bed and, together with its bathroom, is decorated in the brightest summer colours: the wheat-yellow floor and starry sky covering, reminds us of the time of year when we are all brighter, more enthusiastic, free, a bit rebellious and, why not, a bit like Gigino.
